This is a special post to me, as it is about the trip we took and how we celebrated our two year wedding anniversary! I’ve been married to the most amazing man for 2 years! And boy have we accomplished a lot so far, and I’m pretty sure the next year or to will be just as crazy wonderful! That’s right I’ve been so blessed with this wonderful man to be my husband!

husband for post

We’ve been saving for the last 4 months to take this wonderfully relaxing weekend trip to the Chrysalis Inn in Fairhaven/Bellingham and it was well worth it! (Not to mention they were running a 2nd night discount special! so savings yay!) We stayed 2 nights and went up to a little water park called Birch Bay on our full day for a few hours. Unfortunately phones and water parks don’t mix so I didn’t get to snap any pictures when we were there.

We walked on the boardwalk from the Inn to a park, where they have an amazing coffee shop called The Woods Coffee. Honestly it blows Starbucks out of the water, and most other coffee brands I’ve had. It was super smoky the first day we were there, as you can see in the background of this boat picture.

We had a lot of forest fires in Eastern Washington this year, and when the air flow changes direction the smoke would travel on this side of the mountains.

But it was a wonderfully relaxing trip, we did a little shopping, even scored some small Christmas gifts! We ate twice at the Lighthouse Bar & Grill it was fancy, and we had a table right on the window which gave us a perfect view of the harbor, AND because the food was AMAZING! Seriously you need to go and order the Seafood Risotto it’s pretty much a piece of heaven melting in your mouth! And if you’re a steak lover the Sirloin was the best steak I’ve ever had in Washington!

delicious dinner

I can’t say enough we had the best view from our room, the sunsets were just breath taking on both nights, and getting to see the boats sail by was a tad romantic from the window seat in our room. Pretty much out of a Jane Austin novel, but that’s probably because my husband is my own Mr. Darcy and is always doing the sweetest, romantic things I couldn’t even think of! (Ok I will stop gushing over my Mr. T now I promise!) But seriously look at this sunset, how gorgeous is that?!

This was a wonderful trip, and much needed unplugging from electronics and everyday life. I’m a firm believer in you need to budget at least 1 small getaway ever from normalcy. It does wonders for your relationships and refreshes the mind and spirit! I hope we get to take another small trip next year but I’m thinking an anniversary trip might not happen depending on what our circumstances are then. :)
